The second day in Hong Kong I was determined to try some local food. I met up with my friend Xiaoxiao, who lives in a city outside of China who went home for the days our ship was in China and Hong Kong; however, today she came back to the ship. We were going to explore the mall, and find a nice local restaurant.
After walking around for awhile, we found a cupcake place. Xiaoxiao, allowed me to have a bite of her cupcake, and boy was it delicious!
Then we continued to walk around the mall, catching up and talking some selfies.
Finally, we found a restaurant that Xiaoxiao said was a good place. We sat down, and I looked at the menus. Not sure what the menus exactly said, I allowed Xiaoxiao to do all the ordering. As we sat, and enjoyed the tea, I asked what she ordered. She informed me that she ordered ostrich egg, (the green dish) something that I did not even thing they served in China. Everything was delicious though! As we were leaving the restaurant, we even ran into some other SASers who were having their final lunch before 3 days until our next good meal on solid ground in Ho Chi Mihn City (our next port)!
As Xiaoxiao, and I exited the restaurant, I had a chance to see one of the workers preparing some of the dishes. I was not quite sure what the food that they were preparing was, but it was amazing seeing a local making the food just behind glass. Then Xiaoxiao headed back to the ship. Check back in for some more food stories!
